A Quick Tip to Get Even More Out of This Craft
Pair it with a read-aloud of "Dear Earth...From Your Friends in Room 5." In this picture book, students write letters TO the Earth with their promises to help protect it. After reading, have your students write their own "Dear Earth" promise, then fold it into the letter craft.
Now you've got a read-aloud, a writing lesson, AND a craft in one activity. Stick the header "Our Promise to the Earth" above their finished crafts and you've got an instant bulletin board that covers writing, science, AND social-emotional learning.
