Paragraph of the Week + Graphic Organizers - Editable
This resource can help students practice the writing process from start to finish. They will learn to plan, organize, write, edit, and revise a well-written paragraph.
Each week, students will focus on a new topic based on the Paragraph of the Week writing prompt. Students will also practice writing in various styles, such as narrative, informational, and persuasive.
Key writing skills addressed in this resource:
- Developing story elements (characters, setting, plot, etc.)
- Writing a personal narrative
- Developing a main idea with supporting details
- Writing fact-based informational texts
- Expressing a personal opinion with supporting details
Directions:
Assign a Paragraph of the Week topic at the beginning of each week (either for in-class writing or homework). Students will practice one step of the writing process each day and submit their final drafts at the end of the week.
Read what real teachers have said:
- Valerie L. said, “I have used this for 3 weeks now with my class and I am already seeing improvements! I was looking for a way to incorporate some creative writing into all the common core, reading response writing tasks that don't allow for very much creativity- this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I can't live without it now. Thank you for creating such a wonderful resource!”
-
Tina W. said, “Excellent resource for homework. My 4th grade pull out class loves these writing prompts. They are very creative and I am receiving some very interesting responses. Purchase is worth every cent.”
-
Kerry F. said, “My students have a hard time with writing. I use this as a center station because it breaks down the writing assignment into parts making it easier for students. Thank you”
