About My Nerdy Teacher
We make K-3 teaching resources for phonics, math, writing, and social-emotional learning. Our reading resources are built on the Science of Reading and aligned to UFLI Foundations.
Teachers use our resources through Teachers Pay Teachers, our own shop, and our All Access Hub membership.
We're a small remote team across the US and Europe. Our curriculum development team is US-based, and most of our core team has been with us for 5+ years.
What you'll do
This role is ideal for an experienced K-3 educator and curriculum designer who is ready to take ownership of key parts of our curriculum work and grow into a curriculum leadership role. It combines three areas, with most of your time spent on curriculum design and development.
Curriculum Design and Development
- Create original K-3 curriculum and teaching resources
- Write product briefs and create curriculum templates from scratch
- Design age-appropriate resources for kindergarten through third grade
- Develop research-aligned instructional materials
- Incorporate Science of Reading principles into literacy resources
Curriculum Review and Quality
- Proofread and review the resources other team members build from your briefs and templates, with clear feedback on what to fix
- Ensure every product meets our quality, accuracy, and brand expectations before publication
- Help maintain consistency across our curriculum products
Product Planning
- Contribute curriculum expertise to product planning
- Help identify gaps in our catalog based on what teachers need
- Provide classroom insight for product descriptions and marketing
What we're looking for
Must-haves
- K-3 classroom teaching experience
- Strong curriculum development experience: you've designed elementary resources and templates from scratch, not just formatted someone else's content
- Strong knowledge of Common Core State Standards
- Formal Science of Reading training (LETRS or similar) and hands-on literacy instruction experience
- Experience giving constructive feedback on others' work, such as mentoring teachers, leading a grade-level team, or instructional coaching
- A sharp eye for detail
- Strong written communication, since most of our team communication is async
- Comfortable building resources in PowerPoint
- Able to work independently and collaborate with a remote team across time zones
- You know what classroom teachers actually need from a resource
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Education or a related field
- Familiarity with the UFLI Foundations scope and sequence
- Experience teaching with UFLI Foundations in your classroom
- Experience with teacher education company websites
- Your own TPT store or experience selling teaching resources
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with a 2% company match
- 15 days of paid time off, plus 6 paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Yearly professional development budget for training and conferences
- Structured onboarding with SOPs, video tutorials, and the tools you need from day one
- Fully remote, with mostly async communication and about 2 hours a day of overlap with our team in Europe
You'll be employed through Deel, our employer of record. That means a standard US W-2 job, with payroll, taxes, and benefits handled by Deel.
